What is a Firewall?

A system designed to prevent unauthorized access to or from a private network. Firewalls can be implemented in both hardware and software, or a combination of both. Firewalls are frequently used to prevent unauthorized Internet users from accessing private networks connected to the Internet, especially intranets. All messages entering or leaving the intranet pass through the firewall, which examines each message and blocks those that do not meet the specified security criteria.

What does Bizztec do with my private information?

Customer Support will collect and maintain personal information only for the following purposes: to provide service(s) and/or product(s) to its customers; to maintain commercial relations and to communicate with its customers (which will include, but not be limited to: billing, collection, advertising, promotion, account verification); to meet legal and regulatory requirements; to administer and manage its business operations.
Credit card information, payment information and banking information is collected to perform the credit check and upon consent from the authorized person to pay for the services/products as utilized by customer and driven by the contract.
Usernames and passwords will be collected from customers to provide service.
Internet usernames and passwords will be collected at the time of sign-up in-order to provide service.

What is the Secure Socket Layer (SSL)?

This is a protocol developed by Netscape for transmitting private documents via the Internet. SSL works by using a private key to encrypt data that's transferred over the SSL connection. Both Netscape Navigator and Internet Explorer support SSL, and many Web sites use the protocol to obtain confidential user information, such as credit card numbers.
Bizztec enables the use of encrypted transmissions using this SSL technology. SSL helps ensure that your information is protected during transmission over the Internet. This is the same technology used by banks and online trading companies when transmitting data over the Internet

How do I know my personal information is safe?

• Only Bizztec Customer Support, and others whose duties reasonably so require, are granted access to personal information about customers.
• Customer Support will keep personal information only as long as it remains necessary or relevant for the identified purposes or as required by law.
• Personal information that is no longer necessary or relevant for the identified purposes or required to be retained by law will be destroyed, erased or made anonymous.
• Customer Support will protect personal information against loss or theft, as well as unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use, or modification.
• Customer Support is fully aware of the importance of maintaining the confidentiality of personal information. Team members will be governed by a non-disclosure agreement prohibiting disclosure or use of any confidential or personal information for any purposes other than the stated business purposes.
• Bizztec Customer Support will take care in the disposal or destruction of personal information to prevent unauthorized parties from gaining access to the information.

What does the Secure Site Seal indicate?

The Secure Site Seal assures you, our online customer, that our Web business is legitimate and authentic and that all financial transactions with our site are secured by SSL encryption.
The Seal Verifies our identity and confirms that our organization is a legal entity. It confirms that our organization has the right to use the domain name included in the certificate and it verifies that the individual who requested the SSL certificate on behalf of the organization was authorized to do so.

What does encryption mean?

Encryption ensures data privacy by adding a level of security to the data packets of information as they move along the world wide web. An intercepted encrypted message makes it impractical for the interceptors to understand the contents of the message itself.

What kind of encryption is being used on the Bizztec website?

Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 and above for Windows 98, Windows 98 SE, Windows NT 4.0, and Windows XP already include 128-bit encryption. If you have Windows 2000, you need to download the Windows 2000 High Encryption Pack to get 128-bit encryption.

What level of encryption does my browser support?

In Microsoft Internet Explorer you can find the current encryption level supported by your browser by accessing the Help menu and selecting About Internet Explorer.
You can find the information pertaining to the encryption capability of your browser in the resulting information screens.

How do I get a browser with 128-bit encryption?

What does authentication mean?

Authentication essentially confirms your identity, and that the Working Web server is providing valid information.
There are two parts in the authentication process. The first part is by the Secure Socket Layer (SSL). The Secure Socket Layer uses digital certificates to confirm with your Web browser that the Web server you are accessing is in fact the Web server. The second part involves your User ID and Password. This ensures your account information is only provided to the correct User ID and corresponding Password. An incorrect User ID or password will result in failure to access your account information.

What happens when I have session cookies turned off?

"Cookies" are data files saved from a web site to your computer to help the site identify your preferences and more effectively serve pages to your browser. To successfully upgrade your browser, the Microsoft web site require that cookies be ENABLED in your browser.

Internet Explorer browsers enable cookies by default and you shouldn't have any trouble with them. However, If you've disabled cookies for any reason, you must enable them prior to upgrading your browser.
Note: For the Bizztec system to work, cookies must be ENABLED

What happens if I have JavaScript turned off?

If you have JavaScript turned off, you will not be able to open new browser windows or use drop-down menus. You will also be unable to sign up for our services. By default, most browser settings have JavaScript turned on.

How long does it take to activate my Bizztec account?

Once you have registered and paid your subscription activation will take a maximum of 24 hours.

Once I have registered and paid my subscription how do I know when I am on the service?

You will receive an email confirming your activation. The email will contain your receipt of payment and your temporary login ID and Password. 

Can I change my login ID and Password?

Your login ID will be your email address and cannot be changed. Your Password can be changed whenever you wish. We strongly recommend that you change it immediately upon receiving it by email. Thereafter you should change it regularly. 
Your Password should be a minimum of 5 characters and should contain numbers and letters. It is not case sensitive. Always keep it safe and don't give it out to anyone. Also don't use generic or logical Passwords such your name or date of birth. Mix up numbers and letters and try keep it at least 7 characters long.

What if forget or misplace my Password?

Email us and we will contact you with an identifying question. This is done to protect you from intruders. Once you have correctly responded we will inform you of your Password or allow you to change it to a new one.

I only need a basic accounting system. Do I have to pay for functions I don't need?

On your subscription page you will be given choices on all the modules available. You can then choose whatever suits your needs in addition to the standard accounting system..
The standard system is the full function, double entry accounting system which covers all the required functionality needed to run your small business. Should you require any further functionality such as (for example) Inventory or Foreign Exchange you simply select those functions on the Product Selection page and they will be seamlessly added to your accounting system. You only pay for the functionality you need.

As my business grows can I add functionality?

Yes you can. Bizztec has been designed to accommodate businesses of all sizes. We are your 'one stop' solution that continually gets upgraded and new functionality added regularly. Should you require additional functionality simply access your customer page and select from the Product Selection the functionality required. Its as simple as that. You will not have to pay anything for the portion of the first month, its free. You will be billed going forward on the 1st day of the following month.
If you require functionality that is not available, speak to us. We will do whatever is necessary to get it for you either through our considerable network of software partners or we can simply build it internally. We aim to give our customers exactly what they need as cost effectively as possible.

I need a specific solution, can Bizztec help me?

Yes you can. Bizztec has a dynamic Consumer Tax option. You set up the tax to be paid and the percentage to be charged and the system automatically adapts the selected consumer taxes to all its forms, interfaces and reports. So wherever in the world you do business, Bizztec is easily adaptable.

How does Anywhere, Anytime access work?

Anytime, Anywhere Access means you can work on your accounting from anywhere in the world. All you need is an Internet connection. Work at the airport, a client site, or in your home office after hours. All you need is a high-speed Internet connection and your unique login and password. What are the capacity limitations in using Bizztec?

Bizztec is totally scalable so there are no limitations and there are also no additional charges for increased capacity.

How do I back up my data?

As part of its service to its customers Bizztec automatically backs up all data to remote fire-wall protected servers daily. These servers are spread over a large geographic area in order to protect the data from any localized disasters.

How much do I pay for upgrades?

Upgrades are included in your monthly flat fee. There is no extra charge for any system improvements and upgrades of existing modules. You receive the benefits any upgrade automatically when you log in. There is no software to download or anything for you to do.

Do I need any special hardware?

All that is needed is an Internet connected PC. Minimum requirements are as follows:

• 450 MHz computer 
• Memory
• 28MB on Windows XP
• 64MB on Windows 2000 
• 32MB on Windows 98

Recommended hardware for optimum service:

• 1 GHz computer
• 256MB RAM memory

Do I need any special networks?

No networks are required. All that is needed is a computer and an Internet connection (Refer minimum hardware requirements above)

How flexible is the user permission function?

Bizztec's granular user permission function allows the administrator to set very specific permission levels per user, per department or per individual function. It is an excellent tool for establishing the business's internal control procedures as, for example, permissions can be set for certain functions and authorization permissions can be allocated to management.
'View only' permissions can be given to your bankers, 'Journal Entry' permissions to your accountants and 'View Reports' to your Board of Directors. The administrator controls each and every function within the system by setting permissions and determining how and by whom those functions are performed.

I need a customized solution for my business. Can Bizztec help me?

Bizztec offers its customers a complete customized business solution. You will be assigned an Account Manager who will work with you to develop your own unique customized solution which would include
